If I had a motto, I think it'd be "Readers are leaders and leaders are readers." It's a slight distortion of something Harry Truman said and I'm not sure who originally distorted it, but I've always loved that saying, and I drop it whenever I can (much to the chagrin of friends and family). It's because I believe reading is one of the things that make the world go 'round. It doesn't get much better than curling up with a blanket and a cup of coffee and a good book (or iPad, Nook, Kindle, etc.). Reading can be escapism at its best or an enlightening, educational experience. But what nobody wants is to sit down with a book and be distracted by bad writing, grammatical errors, or just plain sloppy storytelling. You wouldn't serve a soufflé half-cooked, right? Or hang a sketch and say it's a painting? In the same vein, you can't necessarily call a book readable just because it's been written.
